GPI provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering design for this new 82,000 sqft assisted living facility with 83 living units and a below grade 30,000 sqft parking garage.
A challenge faced during this project was to replace the existing community center to serve twice the number of seniors without expanding the footprint of the original building. The facility shares its site, including a commercial kitchen, with Merritt Academy, a private general education school. Each residential unit includes an emergency call system for residents to utilize when needed. The facility also includes spacious dining rooms, a wellness suite that includes physical therapy and private exam rooms, an activity room, corridor pods strategically situated to encourage small gatherings, as well as laundry room and utility rooms. Engineering design incorporates cost saving green building measures including design for energy-efficient light fixtures and energy efficient heating and cooling systems. GPI also provided design for a natural gas backup generator.
