GPI provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for this project.
GPI was contracted to access the condition of the heating hot water boilers as well as the domestic water heaters and its 6,000-gallon storage tank. A study of the system determined that a total replacement was required due to the low return water temperatures damaging the boilers. GPI reviewed options to replace the plant. The team moved forward with new condensing boilers for the heating hot water system and an instantaneous hot water solution for the domestic hot water system, with no storage. To ensure the domestic water heaters were sized appropriately, GPI conducted a study to measure and record the hot water usage in the hotel during peak occupancy, including operation of the hotel’s kitchens. Based on this study, GPI was able to reliably size the domestic water heaters to ensure the hotel never ran out of hot water.
