Unlocking the power of creative, context-sensitive planning and design
Creating transformative urban environments and infrastructure.
Our team of planners, engineers, and landscape architects use community engagement, innovative technology, green infrastructure, and creative placemaking to deliver custom projects. We specialize in developing multi-use paths, greenways, and trails, from short segments to extensive 30-mile trails.
While the technical challenges of the work often dominate the practice of engineering, it is essential to remember that transportation infrastructure — streets, bridges, transit stops — are important public spaces that serve and can inspire the community. Creative placemaking is a collaborative design process that incorporates the arts community to engage the public to envision transportation facilities that are functional, beautiful, and a source of community pride. GPI’s design and planning teams have engaged in the creative placemaking process to create public spaces with artistic integrity, meaning, and beauty. Placemaking projects can range from temporary installations to permanent features and are often part of a foundation for community revitalization.
Our use of innovative technology is most effective for our clients when used in concert with established planning tools, such as visioning workshops, public mobility events, and surveys. We use the latest visualization technology, including virtual reality, to create realistic 3D active transportation and complete street environments with full-motion animation. This technology increases collaboration, community understanding, and stakeholder support while also accelerating project decision-making, leading to project success.
