Lord Aeck Sargent The Diener School

GPI provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering for the conversion of a three-story commercial office building into The Diener School. The new educational space includes classrooms, administrative offices, science labs, break-out areas, a nurse’s office, restrooms, and various support spaces designed for both comfort and functionality.

In addition to the interior renovations, the project features a playground, playfield, staff parking, an exterior elevator, and ornamental security gates. Converting this commercial building to a school presented unique challenges, requiring significant upgrades to the existing infrastructure, particularly the mechanical systems, to meet current building codes. GPI designed a new Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) and integrated a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system to enhance the building’s energy efficiency while maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for the students and staff. By transforming an existing space into a customized educational facility, GPI helped The Diener School continue its mission of providing exceptional support to students with diverse learning needs.
