Massachusetts Department of Transportation I-290 Bridges Coatings Inspection

GPI provided contractor submittal review services, project management and oversight, full-time coatings inspection services, and field staff management for the cleaning and painting of four bridges carrying I-290 (Mainline) and ramps over the MBTA, CSX, and city streets in Worcester, Massachusetts.

The project included the cleaning (full removal) and painting of all existing structural steel in the superstructures of the four bridges, as well as all the bearings. The work also included cleaning scuppers and downspouts, structural steel repairs, replacing or resetting bearings, the removal and replacement of asphalt approach riding surfaces, reconstruction of joints, slope paving repair, the application/reapplication of an elastomeric protective coating to concrete surfaces at the piers, parapets, and abutments as well as any other work necessary.
